Guide Dogs Queensland: At Guide Dogs, we put clients and their families at the heart of everything we do. For over 60 years, Guide Dogs has been trusted to empower and support people living with low vision or blindness to achieve independence, participation, inclusion and well-being.

Guide Dogs Queensland: Guide Dogs goals encompass a comprehensive approach to enhancing the lives of individuals with low vision and blindness. We understand that no two journeys are the same. So we work side-by-side with Queenslanders of all ages and at all levels of vision loss to help them find their way with services tailored to suit them.

  • Independence: Empower individuals with low vision and blindness to live independently by providing them with necessary skills, tools, and support systems.
  • Mobility: Ensure safe and efficient navigation for people with low vision and blindness through orientation and mobility training, as well as the use of guide dogs.
  • Education and Advocacy: Educate the public about low vision and blindness, guide dogs, and the needs of individuals with disabilities while advocating for policies and practices that support their rights and well-being.
  • Support Services: Guide Dogs offers personalized counselling services to help individuals navigate emotional challenges related to low vision and blindness. We also provide diverse leisure and lifestyle programs aimed at fostering social connections, skill development, and overall well-being for clients.

Guide Dogs Queensland: It costs over $50,000 to breed, raise and train just one Guide Dog. While we do receive some government support, the generosity and compassion of the community provides us with 85% of the funding we need to help Queenslanders. When you donate to Guide Dogs, you’re investing in helping people in need in your local community.

Guide Dogs Queensland: For Guide Dogs, having the support of volunteers is invaluable. Volunteers play a crucial role in various aspects of the organisation's mission, from socialisation and training of guide dogs to administrative tasks and fundraising efforts. Their dedication and contributions not only help fulfill the practical needs of the organisation but also create a strong sense of community and support for individuals with low vision and blindness. Volunteers embody the spirit of compassion, empathy, and generosity, making a tangible impact on the lives of people with vision loss.

It was a very heartwarming morning filled with delicious treats, great conversations and some very cute furry friends - and, to round out the morning, loans.com.au is proud to have raised a total of $1,633 for Guide Dogs Queensland.
